Section Front End Elements/Components

The elements of the page include;
- Site header: this is consistent across the entire site
- Navigation 1: home, and the category navigation
- Navigation 2: the channel navigation
- Breadcrumbs: shows where in the site hierarchy the user is
- Section Header: this is the H1 tag, and by default will show the name of the section or the pages section parent
- Modules.

Underlying every section homepage is a basic three-column format. However, the actual format of your section homepage may vary depending on how the CSS has been implemented for your sites:
- There may be anywhere between 1 and 3 columns; and
- Double columns will support 2 single modules.
So the actual section homepage format may be anywhere between 1 and 6 columns. In the above example the page has three columns, and the middle column supports two single modules.

Module ID: the ID of the particular module. You can change the module by changing the module ID and clicking “save”.
Title: this is the admin specified title for the module.
Active: if you check the “Active” box then the module will appear on the front end of the site. Active modules will appear in bright orange in the admin. Must click “save” to change state.
Preview: if you check “preview” then the module will appear in the preview for the page (as viewed when you click on the “preview page” at the top of the page). Must click “save” to change state.
NOTE: if neither active or preview are checked, then the module will appear on the edit homepage page, but will not appear either live on the front end or in the preview for the page.
Alignment: as you will have seen above, some columns on a section homepage are “double columns”. This means that you can either put a “single” or “double” module in the column. If you add a “single” module to a “double column”, then the “alignment” drop down option will appear. You select left to orientate the single module to the left, and “right” to orient it to the right. If you alternate “left”, “right” with your single modules then they will fit side by side in the double column.

Note: if you add a double module after two single modules then there may be a gap between the top of the double module and the bottom of the shortest single module. It is often difficult to get two single modules exactly the same length. Although inactive modules do not display on the live webpage, they do still affect the page load times, so it is good practice to delete any redundant & inactive modules from the sections rather than leaving them there.
