Media types and upload process

All media (images, files, etc) is mangaged through a central library called "Media".

Once logged into admin, click on the ‘media’ tab

You will be taken to ‘media home’ there are two fields

  • Add new – allows you to select the media type
  • Search – search for a media type (files) already in the system

You need to upload the iamge or file as the right type of 'media' because then the system know what to do with it and where to display it.

  • Standard I & II are the core images for the site. You upload them as the largest version (popup version) and the system creates two further versions that are used in the actual web pages. The system will also create two different versions which are then used in the eCart. Standard images can be used in an article, article intro, single image serving, image text module, html module, shop product & shop category module.
  • Alternative image - this is only used in the 'alternative image text module' and is intended to give you a third 'alternative' image format to the Standard images.
  • Promo image – for promo modules
  • Resources: these are generally files and documents that you wish to link into an article in the "Related resources' section, but this media type can be used to upload any type of media that you want to use in the system which is outside the standard parameters.

To upload a Standard I image, select the name in the add new drop down, it will take you to Upload Media page, browse for your file, insert captions text (optional) and alt text  (the tag that appears when you roll your mouse over the image (optional).

Once you hit upload you should get a green notification box confirming the upload.

This process is similar for other media types you wish to upload.
