Email Target | This is the list of email addresses you are going to send an email to. Selecting your list involves a number of steps: 1. Select the type of list from the following options: a) Member opt-ins: will display all lists of the opt-ins configured on the /members/member.asp page. b) Sponsor opt-ins: will display all available lists of sponsor opt-ins generated through the Comps. c) Comp Entrants: will display lists for all competitions that exist in the system. The list will include all comp entrants for that comp (unless they have unsubscribed) d) CSV File: will enable you to send to a CSV/TAB delimited file of email addresses that you upload. e) Custom: will only exist where a customised mail routine has been set up for your site. 2. Select the actual list that you wish to email. |
Validated Status | This field “qualifies” the Email Target list. “All of list” will send to the entire selected list regardless of whether they have validated their email address or not. Whereas “validated” will only send to those users who have validated their email address. This field will not qualify a CSV list. |
Gender | Will only send to the selected sub-set of the target list based on the user’s gender in their profile. If they do not have a gender specified then they will be ignored unless “all of list” is selected. |
State | Will restrict the broadcast to the selected sub-set of the target list based on the user’s specified state in their profile. You may specify multiple states, simply separate each state abbreviation by a comma. This will only qualify for Australian states. Leave the field blank if you don’t wish to restrict the broadcast. |
Optional Question | You are able to specify an optional question as part of the registration process if you go to admin>members>join process. The options that you specify will appear in the Emailer as a qualifying option. |
HTML Email Content | If you have selected to use an html template above, then it will display here. The default view is the WYSIWIG editing screen in which you can edit the text which will appear on the bulk email. You can use the buttons at the bottom of the box to insert links, make text bold/italic or create lists. |
Email Images | Select the email image(s) you want to use on your email here. Images must be uploaded first as file type “email image” through the media tab in admin before they appear in the list of available images here. Next to the image you will find fields for: link: (insert the URL you want someone to go to if they click on the email image in the email) caption: (insert the caption which appears when some hovers their mouse over the email) alt text: (insert the text which appears when the image does not load on the screen – e.g. if the email program the email is received on blocks image downloads or is text only rather than HTML) |
